A gigantic white contradiction hits the road.
A fourteen-metre statue of John Paul II — the world’s largest sacred miniature — travels from the factory where garden gnomes are made to its place on a hilltop, among plastic spiders, saints and bumper cars. A surreal tale about the need for myth, the presence of kitsch in religion, and the desire for greatness.
